Spencer Couture is an American Urban Pop Artist from Boulder, Colorado. His artistic process began as a teenager influenced by The Graffiti Boom and Street Art Movement of the 1980's. Being a self-taught Freehand Graffiti Artist, it's no surprise that spray paint is his favorite medium, but as his passion for Urban Pop Art grew, he also developed an affinity for acrylic paint and splatter techniques. His large format style and use of vibrant colors are often accompanied by witty social commentary on popular culture and the mass media. As art turned from a hobby into a profession, Spencer began to draw inspiration from the various styles of Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Jackson Pollock, and Pose.
In June 2016 Spencer launched his POP pARTy concept as a way to exhibit his artwork. POP pARTy is not a conventional art show, but rather an experiential art event intended to inspire more interaction with attendees. It also aims to integrate other cultural arts that are relevant to the subject matter in Spencer's paintings. With high profile musical acts, dance performances, and custom designed event spaces, POP pARTy has become one of the most anticipated art events of the year in San Diego.
